If you’re a new reader to Marvel Omega, you probably have some questions about the group even after going through some of the series and the continuity. This page serves as a place where you can find answers to the questions most frequently asked by people who are new to the site or interested in checking it out.

  • What’s Marvel Omega all about?
    • Marvel Omega is a shared fanfiction group dedicated to the Marvel Comics universe. Our series are set in the regular Marvel continuity, cutting off from it after the Hunt For Xavier storyline in the X-Men titles.
  • What do you mean by shared?
    • MO isn’t an archive site like Fanfiction.net or Wattpad. Instead, we break off from Marvel’s continuity and everyone writes within a shared universe (with the exception of alternate universe titles). Writers write for different titles, much like creative teams write for different comics at the real Marvel.
  • What’s this I hear about the group once being part of Marvel-X?
    • Marvel-X is the group where many of our X-Men and related titles were born, but in October of 2003 we split amicably due to different visions for this section of the group. As a result of the split, our site Marvel-X Underground, which featured all the X-Men titles, was renamed Marvel Omega, and we’ve since branched out to non-X series to create a full-blown Marvel fan fiction group.
  • What happened to all the other Marvel-X series? What about their connection to Marvel Omega‘s continuity?
    • Luckily for us, Marvel-X’s X-Men titles were really not connected to the non-X-titles that much, so it was easy for our branch to split off without disrupting any of the continuity in either group. Marvel Omega’s continuity was streamlined to a good crop of X-titles to make way for all-new series for titles such as Avengers and Fantastic Four.
  • If the non-X-titles at Marvel Omega don’t start until after October 2003, when is the cut-off for those series?
    • The non-X-titles all pick up from some point during Mavel’s 2003 continuity, though it will vary from series to series.
  • I’m still sort of lost with all this continuity. Can you give me a run-down of the group’s history?
    • It’s a little difficult to give a general rundown. As you can see from our titles, we’ve had a lot of stories produced over the years. The best way to get a sense of our continuity is to read some issues or just ask questions on our forum. Our writers and fans are more than happy to help you out.
  • What’s up with the Ultimate titles? What’s the cut-off for them from Marvel’s Ultimate books?
    • There isn’t one. Marvel Omega’s Ultimate titles use the same concept as Marvel’s Ultimate titles, which is to launch classic Marvel characters from ground zero. Only this time, instead of people like Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Millar reimagining the characters, Marvel Omega’s writers are the ones doing it.
  • I’m still confused, does that mean that the Ultimate books are in a shared universe? Because they don’t seem to interact at all.
    • Unlike Marvel, our Ultimate titles are not in a shared universe. Each Ultimate book takes place in its own, separate universe.
  • I’m interested in writing for Marvel Omega. How do I submit a proposal?
    • Check out the submissions page, it’ll tell you everything you need to do.
  • Can I submit a proposal for one of the completed titles?
    • Absolutely! We encourage writers to continue titles that we’ve already published on the site. Just make sure you check the dibs as characters who used to be in that title may now be dibbed by other writers.
  • Is there a reading order for the site?
    • Unfortunately no. Given the size of the site and the sheer number of stories that have been written, a comprehensive reading order would be very difficult to assemble. However, our writers and editors have been pretty conscious about this, and have indicated that certain issues take place before or after others. Like with mainstream Marvel Comics, your best bet is to just use your own judgment when reading stories to determine where they fall in continuity. That said, all our issues are marked with the month and year they were released, so you can use that as a rough guide. Continuity errors are, of course, unavoidable with such a wealth of material and writers, but we try our best to keep them to a minimum and to make corrections or clarifications when we’re aware of them.
  • I’ve heard about DC Omega. Is this site affiliated with Marvel Omega?
    • DC Omega is a sister site to Marvel Omega, originally with its own cut-off. The initial DC Omega site did not do so well and was closed down, but recently was resurrected again, taking a New 52/Ultimate approach by launching the DC Universe from ground zero. Check out DC Omega for more.
