CARDIAC
When Elias Wirtham was young, his brother died of an illness. When he grew up, Wirtham became a doctor and discovered that a chemical company had the cure for his brother’s disease, but kept it off the market until the economic climate was more favorable. Enraged, Wirtham swore revenge and underwent a series of painful operations that replaced his heart with a compact beta-particle reactor and encased his entire body within a layer of Vibranium-mesh pseudo-skin.
RED WOLF
William Talltrees was the son of a Cheyenne tribal leader and grew up hearing stories of the legendary Red Wolf. He witnessed his father being intimidated into selling his land by a corrupt businessman and after his father refused, later that night William’s family was killed. Swearing vengeance, William donned the ceremonial garb of the Red Wolf and was visited by the spirit Owayodata. Imbued with superhuman powers, William became the Red Wolf.
LIVING LIGHTNING
Miguel Santos was a high school student when his father, a member of the Legion of the Living Lightning, was killed in battle with the Hulk. Seeking to salvage his father’s name, Miguel broke into the Legion’s headquarters to learn more about their work. He was unwittingly transformed into a being of living energy by the equipment there and, confused, battled the West Coast Avengers. After a brief and unwilling foray into crime, he joined the West Coast Avengers.
TEXAS TWISTER
While working as a cattle hand at a ranch, Drew Daniels was affected by both radiation from a nearby reactor and a tornado at the same time. The result is that he gained the ability to generate tornadoes at will. After working with SHIELD’s Super-Agent program for a time, Texas Twister joined a rodeo where he met Shooting Star, who became his partner. The two later helped form a team of adventurers known as the Rangers.
ZERO-G
At twelve years old, Alex Power and his three siblings received abilities from Aelfyre Whitemane, a dying Kymellian noble. Alex gained the ability to control gravity and the four became the team Power Pack. Later, Alex absorbed his siblings’ powers into himself and joined the New Warriors for a time. Angering his siblings, Alex returned their powers and rejoined them.
RAGE
Seeking refuge in the Newton Creek from bullies, young Elvin Haliday was doused with waste chemicals from Fisk Biochem. The chemicals changed Elvin’s physical appearence, making him look like a grown man with superhuman strength and near-invulnerability. Joining the Avengers as a trainee, Elvin was approached by the New Warriors to steal a Quinjet. This caused the Avengers to dismiss him and Rage joined the Warriors. After his grandmother was killed by enemies of the Warriors, Dwayne Taylor became Rage’s legal guardian. Now, Elvin is enrolled at the Oatridge School for Boys.
BANDIT
Donyell Taylor is the illegitimate half-brother of Dwayne Taylor, the vigilante Night Thrasher. Resenting Dwayne for having the money and family that he never did, Donyell began targetting Night Thrasher’s old foes to prove he was superior and confronted his brother, eventually stealing away Dwayne’s lover, Silhouette. A mutant with bioelectric powers, Bandit joined the New Warriors for a time.
BLACK CROW
Jesse Black Crow is a member of the Navajo nation and left the reservation to become a construction worker. After falling, Jesse was paralyzed from the waist down. Approached by the Earth spirit, Jesse was granted the ability to undergo a mystical transformation. As Black Crow, his mystic powers make him the protector of the Navajo people.
BATAL
The national hero of Syria, Batal possesses a wide assortment of weaponry and equipment, including plastic firearms to avoid metal detectors. As a representative of Syria, he’s frequently at odds with Israel’s national hero, Sabra.
SABRA
Ruth Bat-Seraph is a mutant possessed of superhuman strength, reflexes and speed. Raised by the Israeli government after her powers manifested, she was the first superhuman operative of the Mossad.
MICROMAX
A former DJ, Scott Wright became an operative of FI6, a secret British national security unit once he discovered his mutant ability to manipulate his body mass. He joined Excalibur for a period before he resigned from the FI6 and took a job with the Brand Corporation.
OMERTA
The Italian hero known only as Omerta and his ancestors belonged to a mysterious religious order that dictates they observe a strict vow of silence. After years of training in virtually unknown forms of martial arts, Omerta became one of his country’s national heroes. Due to the vow of silence, he and others in his order possess the ability to project marginal thoughts.
VORMUND
The mysterious Vormund possesses the superhuman ability to absorb kinetic energy and either redirect it as energy blasts or use it to increase his own vitality. Originally debuting as Hauptmann Deutschland, he eventually changed his name to Vormund and became one of Germany’s national heroes.
