NOVA
Richard Rider was an ordinary high school student until he encountered a dying alien who bestowed upon him the costume and powers that made him into the superhero called Nova. Granted the abilities of superhuman strength and speed as well as flight and the ability to fire powerful blasts of energy called ‘nova bursts’, Nova took to the streets and became a crimefighter, until taking off for a long period in outer space. He returned to Earth powerless, only to have those powers restored as he helped form the New Warriors.
